Softball Splits With Wheaton

Taylor Skraba tallied two homeruns to help Benedictine University softball to a split with Wheaton College in non-conference play.

THE DETAILS
• Skraba's first homer of the day came in her first at-bat of the game, a shot to left field to put BenU on top
• Wheaton countered with a homerun of their own in the second to take a 2-1 lead
• After a scoreless third, Wheaton collected five runs off of five hits in the fourth
• Emily Moore singled in the fourth and was driven in by Asia Robinette but that was the final time the Eagles would score in the game, falling 9-2

THE DETAILS
• Wheaton took a 1-0 lead in the first
• Benedictine's offense came alive in the bottom of the frame, tallying eight runs to take the lead
• Skraba led off the inning with a double to left followed by a Fast single
• Ashley Fisher tallied an RBI followed by a two-run double from Moore
• The scoring didn't stop there with Robinette scoring a run after a double to left center and Elena Sakellaropoulos also drove in a run
• Skraba tallied her second homer of the game, a two-run shot to left field to give BenU an 8-1 lead
• The Eagles scored two more in the second while Wheaton scored three runs off of three hits and one BenU error in the third
• The Thunder offense continued to chop at the BenU lead, scoring two runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth
• A two-run double from Moore gave BenU two more runs in the sixth while Fast and the Eagle defense held Wheaton scoreless in the seventh for the win

Benedictine softball, now 15-3 overall, will continue Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action this weekend when they host Concordia University Chicago starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
