Softball Splits a Pair at North Park

The Benedictine University finished up the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule on Thursday night with a split at North Park University.

THE DETAILS
• Both teams scored four runs in the first inning
• Taylor Skraba led off the inning with a single to left field and moved to third on a single up the middle
• Ashley Fisher picked up two RBI's with a double to right center and Abbey Plutz drove in another run
• An RBI sac bunt from Kaitlyn Velazquez ended the scoring for the Eagles
• Both teams remained scoreless until the fifth when Abbey Plutz singled and tallied two more runs for the Eagles for the win

Moore: 2-4: 2 runs
Plutz: 1-3, 3 RBI
Alexandra Loizon (10-4): 7.0 innings pitched, 4 earned runs, 3 strikeouts

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine took a 2-0 lead in the first after hits from Skraba and Fisher
• North Park took over the lead in the second after they collected four runs off of five hits
• After the Vikings tallied two runs in the third and three more in the fourth, Benedictine rallied in the fifth
• Faith Chada singled and was driven in with a Fast single
• A double to right center from Moore drove in three more runs but it wasn't enough as the Eagles would fall 9-6

UP NEXT
Benedictine softball, now 20-6 overall, return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action this weekend when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, April 13 at 12:00pm.
