MILWAUKEE, WI - The Benedictine University baseball team dropped a heart breaker in the opened but managed to rally in game two and come away with a conference split at MSOE.

• The action started early in the opener as
Jack Feeley led off the game with a homer, the precursor to three first inning runs for Benedictine
• Logan Shepard followed with a walk and
Jimmy McLaughlin singled before back-to-back doubles from
Damen Castillo and
Jack Surin
• MSOE came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to pull within 3-2
• Both teams scored in the third as Benedictine led 4-3 when McLaughlin crossed on a wild pitch
• MSOE tied the game in the fouth and took the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth
• Benedictine continued to rally, scoring in the sixth and grabbing the lead again with two in the seventh
• Nicholas Quick opened the sixth with a double and scored on an error after a
Chase Patterson single
• Shepard and McLaughlin opened the seventh with walks and Castillo singled home pinch-runner
Michael Chaffin to tie the game
• Brenden Norberg used an RBI groundout to make the score 7-6
• MSOE tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and had the potential winning run thrown out at the plate
• The hosts finally won the game in the 11th after Benedictine stranded a runner at third in the top of the frame

• Alexander Schram started the first game and worked 4.2 innings in a no-decision

• MSOE built on the momentum from the opener with a run in the first inning and held a 4-1 lead after four innings

• Benedictine scored four runs in the fifth to take the lead

Kyle Mitter and Feeley drew walks before McLaughlin throttled a two-run double and the tying run scored on an error
• Castillo put Benedictine in front with an RBI single
• Mitter scored on a throwing error in the sixth to provide an insurance run
• Marty Maves struck out the side in the ninth to tally his eighth save
GAME TWO LEADERS
• Justin Sosa started and worked four innings
• Berman picked up the win by throwing three scoreless frames
• Litavecz bridged the gap to Maves with a scoreless eighth
• Castillo led a nine-hit attack with three while Mitter added a pair
NOTES
• Feeley posted hits in each game and has now reached base in 20 straight while holding down a 19-game hitting streak
• Mitter has reached base in 17 straight while McLaughlin now owns an 11-game hitting streak
• Castillo was retired only once in the doubleheader, notching seven hits with three RBIs
• The doubleheader marked the beginning of a frantic final two weeks as Benedictine will play six conference games in four days and 11 total games over the final 11 days
