LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team pitched to a doubleheader split, taking the second game at home with Marian on Sunday.

GAME ONE
• Benedictine had trouble kick-starting the offense until late against Marian's starter
• The visitors sent eight men to the plate in the third inning against starter
Ryan Miller, scoring four times to nab the lead
• Marian extended the lead to 7-0 in the seventh, scoring three times to chase Miller from the game
• The lead reached 9-0 with two runs in the ninth
• Benedictine gained some momentum for the second contest with three hits in the ninth, scoring on a single from pinch hitter

GAME ONE LEADERS
• Miller struck out nine in 6.2 innings but allowed four earned runs on nine hits
• Cameron Paladines threw 2.1 innings in relief, striking out a pair
• Jack Surin and
Kyle Mitter logged two hits each as Benedictine totaled eight in the opener
GAME TWO
• Benedictine placed runners on base in each of the first two innings but broke through in the third, scoring four times
• Jack Feeley led off the inning with a single and promptly stole second before
Logan Shepard drew a walk
• Jimmy McLaughlin dropped down a bunt to move the runners but an errant throw allowed Feeley to cross with the first run
• Damen Castillo capped the scoring in the inning with his fourth homer of the year, an opposite field blast to right
• The four runs were more than enough for
Stephen Sewruk, who moved to 5-0 on the year
• Shepard drove home Mitter with a sacrifice fly in the fourth to cap the scoring
GAME TWO LEADERS
• Sewruk tossed seven blank innings, allowing just four hits
• Ty Liaromatis and
Marty Maves helped to close out the fifth shutout of the season
• Castillo posted two hits as Benedictine finished with five
NOTES
• Feeley posted hits in each game and has now reached base in 22 straight while holding down a 21-game hitting streak
• Mitter has reached base in 19 straight
• The game was pushed back due to snow and rain on Saturday
• Sewruk leads the team in wins and has thrown three outings this season without allowing a run
• Three of the shutouts this season have come in conference play
• The win in game two marked the 20th of the year; Benedictine has won at least 20 games in each of the four seasons under
