Offense Leads Eagles to Sweep of Alverno

The Benedictine University softball team tallied seven home runs against Alverno College to move to 6-2 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
 
GAME ONE FINAL

THE DETAILS
• Three Eagles homered in game one, including a three-run shot from Abbey Plutz in the sixth
• It was Alverno though that scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first
• Benedictine responded in the second with a two-run single from Asia Robinette
• An Emily Moore double scored two runs in the third
• Alverno tied the game in the bottom of the frame with three runs off of three hits and two BenU errors
• Kaitlyn Velazquez picked up her first home run of the season in the fourth to put the Eagles on top
• Megan Fast homered in the fifth to help Benedictine score three more runs
• Plutz's homer in the sixth secured the Eagles 13-4 win

• The Eagles tallied 16 hits and four home runs in the nightcap
• The first inning saw back-to-back-to-back homers from Fisher, Moore and Plutz to take a 3-0 lead
• Fast tallied her third homerun of the season in the second inning
• Alverno would score two runs in the second but BenU responded with four runs of their own in the third
• RBI's from Faith Chada, Taylor Skraba, Becky Roncone and Caitlin Curtis in the fourth saw the Eagles take an 18-2 lead
• Alverno scored one run in the fifth
