WHEATON, IL - The Benedictine University women's volleyball team opened play at the Wheaton College Marilyn Scribner Invitational with a split of two contests.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine recorded three straight kills to open the first set with two from
Taylor Dunwell and one from
Rebecca Pacewic
• Molly Stock opened a string of four straight points that made the score 8-3 as Benedictine led for most of the opening set
• St. Mary's took the lead for the first time at 17-16 and scored the final two points to take the opening set
• St. Mary's jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second and held the advantage until
Hannah Griffith opened a stretch of five straight points that allowed Benedictine to go up 18-17
• St. Mary's countered with the next four and held on for the win
• Benedictine led 3-1 early in the second but five straight points allowed St. Mary's to take the lead for good

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine cruised to a set one victory, leading 21-6 at one point
• The second set was similar with Benedictine holding the lead for much of the early portion before five in a row enabled Buena Vista to lead 16-15
• Benedictine led 22-20, but Buena Vista scored the final five points
• The third set was tight until Buena Vista rattled off five straight to open a 19-14 edge
• Benedictine was able to fend off three straight set points until Buena Vista closed the door
• Three errors and a pair of aces from Primas saw Benedictine jump out to a 6-4 edge in the fourth, a lead that would not relinquish to set up the fifth
• Down early in the fifth, Dunwell, Pacewic and Stock logged kills as part of a run that saw Benedictine open a 7-3 lead
• Buena Vista came back to within 8-7 but back-t-back kills from Dunwell ended the match and insured a split
• Benedictine hit over .400 in three sets and finished at .282 with 13 aces
