AURORA, IL - Facing another conference opponent in a non-conference match, the Benedictine University men's volleyball team dropped a five-set decision.

THE DETAILS
• A tight set throughout, Benedictine led for the first time in the opening set at 13-12 and again at 16-14
• Benedictine led 21-20, bu Aurora scored five of the final six including the last three to win the opening set
• After falling behind 1-0 in the second, Benedictine scored the next four including kills from Chase Olso
n and Nick Malak, leading for most of the set
• Aurora came back to tie the score twice at 11-11 and 12-12 before another four-point run opened with a kill from Malak to put Benedictine ahead for good
• Benedictine jumped ahead early in the third, tallying the first two points and holding a 6-1 lead with Joe Lock notching a pair of aces
• The hosts scored the first three of the fourth and led the entire way as Benedictine could not play catchup
• Aurora led 3-0 in the fifth, but Benedictine came all the way back, scoring five-of-six to open a 10-7 lead on a kill from John Davis
• Benedictine was closing in on a win with a Marcus Gonzalez kill to lead 13-9, but Aurora notched seven of the next eight including the final six to grab the non-conference win at home
• Four of the matches for Benedictine this season have gone to five sets
