LISLE, IL - The 12th-ranked Benedictine University men's volleyball team scored a huge early season conference win by taking down visiting Dominican University in a matchup of top-15 programs.

• Dominican opened a 16-12 lead midway through the first before Benedictine recorded four of the next five, taking advantage of three errors to pull within 17-16
• Nathan Klimisch helped create momentum with two kills and an ace as Benedictine closed with three of the final four to win the st
• The visitors, who regularly battle Benedictine for the top slot in the conference standings, used three straight midway through the second to gain control and scored the final three to win
• Three different players notched kills to begin the third as Benedictine opened an early 4-0 lead
• Dominican came back to tie the score at 13, but
Jacob Grygo, who posted a career match, ripped three kills in a run of four straight points to help Benedictine gain some distance
• Dominican came back to within a point at 23-22 late, but
Tim Folliard and Grygo notched back-to-back kills to score the win
• Benedictine fell behind early in the fourth and had to play from behind as Dominican scored eight straight to break a 4-4 tie
• The decisive fifth set opened with a Dominican serving error followed by consecutive kills from Grygo as Benedictine jumped ahead 3-0 and did not trail, taking advantage of four straight errors late to lead 11-6
• Grygo punctuated the decisive win with a kill to score just the third win over Dominican in program history and the first since early in the 2019 season
• Dominican, ranked sixth in the nation, had not dropped a set in four contests this season entering the match
• Benedictine hit .279 for the match and banged down 20 kills in the third set
• Grygo hit over .400 in the contest
