THE DETAILS
• Benedictine took advantage of errors on the first two points of the match to take the early lead and did not trail in the opening set
• Mike LeGros opened a long serving run by
Chase Olson with a kill as Benedictine surged to a 12-3 lead
• Consecutive kills late from Olson and
Jacob Grygo pushed the margin to 20-9
• Grygo and
Nathan Klimisch put down kills early in the second as Benedictine again utilized a strong start, leading the entire way
• Tim Folliard opened the third set with a kill but Lakeland led for a bulk of the set
• A service error knotted the score at 19-19 and an attack error put Benedictine ahead for good
• Lakeland pulled within a point on three occasions, but an ace from Olson sent Benedictine to match point and a serving error ended the contest
• Benedictine hit .242 for the match, including .375 in the second
