Men's Lacrosse Rallies to Big Non-Conference Win

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team capped a huge week by rallying from three goals down to upend visiting Southwestern and win a non-conference affair.

THE DETAILS
•
Southwestern scored the first two goals of the game and held a 4-1 lead after the opening quarter
• Down 5-2, Nic Perkins and Colin Domek scored to bring Benedictine within 5-4
• Scott Ransom and Joe Spahn both scored on assists from Anthony Leahy to tie the score late in the first half
• Southwestern scored the final goal of the first half and added the first goal of the second half to lead 8-6 and found themselves ahead 10-7 following a man-up goal with 5:35 left in the third
• Benedictine scored the final four goals of the game to steal the win after turning the momentum
• Domek opened the run late in the third before the defense clamped down, preventing Southwestern from scoring in the final 20 minutes of the game
• Mateo Salceda tied the game with 11:51 left and Perkins scored the game winner less than a minute later before the defense went to work

STAT LEADERS

Southwestern, from Texas, held a 33-29 advantage in shots and won 14 faceoffs
• Perkins and Domek both scored three times
• Ransom added two goals and an assist while Leahy scored once and added three assists
• Evan Kilbane made three stops in goal but Bobby Tangredi did not allow a goal while making six saves in the 20 minutes
• Daniel Misheck caused five turnovers and picked up eight groundballs to pace the defense
