LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University softball team capped a busy week by dropping a pair of close non-conference contests with visiting North Park.

THE DETAILS
• North Park jumped in front with a run in the top of the first
• The visitors stretched the lead to 5-0 with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth
• Benedictine rallied with single runs in the sixth and seventh and brought the tying run to the plate but could not equalize the contest
• Colleen Schmit tripled with two outs in the sixth and scored on an error
• The seventh inning drama came with back-to-back doubles from
Faith Chada and
Taylor Skraba with Chada crossing the plate on Skraba's two-bagger
• A walk brought the tying run to the plate with one away but North Park escaped
• A two-out homer in the first put North Park ahead early in the second game, but Benedictine scored the next five runs to lead 5-1
• Asia Robinette singled home Schmit to tie the game in the second
• The first two hitters of the third reached but just one run scored on a groundout from
Alyssa Gill as Benedictine took a 2-1 edge
• Three runs scored in the fourth to make the count 5-1
• Neena Franklin lifted a sacrifice fly, Skraba dropped down a sacrifice bunt and
Megan Fast also lifted a sacrifice fly to account for the scoring
• North Park scored six runs in the seventh to steal the win
• The tying and go-ahead runs scored on a three-run homer with two outs
• Benedictine has played 13 games this season and 10 of those contests have been decided by three runs or less
STAT LEADERS
• Skraba and Schmit tallied two hits each in the opener as Benedictine finished with seven, three of which were for extra bases
• Alexandra Loizon worked 2.1 innings in the circle, taking the loss
• Hannah Trumpis tossed an inning with
Emily Mendoza throwing 3.2 and allowing just one hit
• Fast and Robinette both tallied two hits in the second contest
• Fast worked 6.1 innings
