CLERMONT, FL - The Benedictine University softball team opened the 2022 season by splitting a pair of games in Florida.

THE DETAILS: UW-STEVENS POINT
• After stranding a pair of runners in the bottom of the first, Benedictine got the season off to a rousing start by scoring in the second
• Neena Franklin drew a one-out walk, stole second and crossed the plate on a single from 
Faith Chada
• UW-Stevens Point, playing for the ninth time this year, promptly tied the game in the third
• Colleen Schmit kicked off the bottom of the fourth with a single and was sacrificed to second
• Pinch hitter 
Sara Allison doubled home the go-ahead run
• Again UW-Stevens Point had an immediate answer, evening the game in the fifth
• Schmit tripled to begin the bottom of the sixth and scored the winning run on an error
STAT LEADERS: UW-STEVENS POINT
• Alexandra Loizon tossed a complete game in the circle, earning the win after allowing just two runs with a walk and three strikeouts
• Benedictine totaled six hits from five different individuals
• Franklin tallied two hits and scored twice
THE DETAILS: MILLIKIN
• The Florida schedule is going to be difficult and Millikin was ranked 25th with a 14-2 record entering the game
• Millikin scored three runs in the first and added seven in the second but did not score again
• The lone Benedictine run came in the fourth when 
Leah Navarro scored on a double from 
Ashley Fisher
• Megan Fast suffered the loss in the circle
• Navarro did not allow an earned run in three scoreless frames
