Bushnell Homers Twice as Baseball Rallies to Win

AUBURNDALE, FL - Kevin Bushnell hit a pair of homers as the Benedictine University baseball team rallied from deficits of 4-0 and 5-1 to defeat UW-Eau Claire in Florida.

THE DETAILS
•
UW-Eau Claire broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third, scoring four runs with two outs
• Benedictine was able to get one back in the bottom of the inning
• Alex Cameron scored when Bushnell reached on an error with two outs
• Another two-out run in the fourth extended the UW-Eau Claire edge to 5-1
• Andrew Tenison walked to lead off the bottom of the inning and scored on a single by Cameron
• With two outs Ryan Doubek singled to bring Benedictine within 5-3
• Four runs crossed in the fifth to hand Benedictine a 7-5 advantage
• Bushnell opened the inning with a single and moved up on a wild pitch and a single from Damen Castillo
• Tenison singled home a run to bring Benedictine within 5-4
• The next batter, Chase Hanselman, singled home the tying run
• Kyle Williams followed with a single to put Benedictine ahead as the first five batters of the frame picked up hits
• The final run of the inning scored on a fielder's choice by Cameron
• Bushnell hit his first homer in the sixth, scoring Anthony Lenza in front of him to make the score 9-5
• UW-Eau Claire scored a single run in the seventh against the bullpen to cut into the deficit
• Bushnell's second homer in the eighth put the game out of reach, a three-run shot after the first two batters reached in front of him
• UW-Eau Claire scored twice in the ninth but could get no closer

STAT LEADERS

Robbie Dudzinski made the start and earned the win, working six innings while striking out 10
• Ty Liaromatis worked 2.1 innings and Tenison notched the final two outs
• Benedictine finished with 12 hits, notching 10 or more in a fourth straight
• All nine members of the lineup recorded a hit
• Bushnell finished with three hits, three runs and six RBIs
• Benedictine has won four straight after dropping the first game of the trip

Benedictine (5-3) owns a 4-1 record thus far in Florida and will play three tough games to end beginning tomorrow against Trinity (Conn.)
