Baseball Concludes Trip to Florida

WINTER HAVEN, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team completed the spring trip to Florida with a two-run loss to Williams.

THE DETAILS

Williams opened the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff homer and made it 2-0 with a double steal in the fourth
- Benedictine got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of a leadoff walk to Kevin Bushnell
- Jack Carlson singled home Bushnell with two outs to make the score 2-1
- Both teams scored in the fifth to keep it a one-run game
- Anthony Lenza tripled for Benedictine and scored on a Ryan Doubek single
- A two-run homer in the sixth made the score 5-2 and an unearned run in the seventh extended the edge to 6-2
- Benedictine plated a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to draw within 6-4
- Carlson singled home a run and pinch hitter Nick Presutti forced home a run with a fielder's choice
- Williams grabbed an insurance run in the top of the ninth
- Andrew Tenison singled home a run in the ninth but Benedictine left the bases loaded to suffer the defeat

Justin Sosa worked five innings in his second start of the trip, taking the loss
- Simon Herold and Jackson Bahn both threw two innings
- Benedictine finished with 12 hits but stranded 12 on base
- Cole Wilson finished 4-for-5 with a run
- Doubek, Carlson and Lenza all notched two hits
- Benedictine finished 5-3 on the trip with two losses coming by two runs
- Half of the games were decided by two runs or less
