Softball Drops a Pair to Lakeland

LISLE, IL - Continuing a busy week, the Benedictine University softball team dropped a pair of games to Lakeland on Friday.

GAME ONE DETAILS
•
Asia Robinette opened the scoring in the game by drilling a solo homer to left in the second
• The 1-0 score held until the fifth when Lakeland scored twice
• Megan Fast was able to tie the game by homering in the sixth
• Bound for extras, Lakeland broke through with three runs in the 10th after two scoreless innings
• Benedictine was able to score twice in the bottom of the frame on a bloop single from Alyssa GIll but stranded the tying run on base

GAME ONE LEADERS
•
Fast finished with three hits as Benedictine totaled seven
• Robinette tallied two hits
• Alexandra Loizon worked into the 10th but suffered the loss after striking out six

GAME TWO DETAILS
•
Steady rain fell throughout the end of the first game and caused the second contest to be delayed by over an hour
• Benedictine waited through the storm and quickly grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Fast doubled home Taylor Skraba
• Lakeland tied the game in the third before Gill doubled home a run in the bottom of the inning to hand Benedictine a momentary lead
• It was all Lakeland the rest of the way
• The visitors scored four runs in the fourth to open a 5-2 lead and added two more in the fifth to go up 8-2
• Skraba hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, also scoring Faith Chada to draw Benedictine within 8-4
• Lakeland scored two more in the sixth to account for the final

GAME TWO LEADERS
•
Skraba and Fast both tallied two hits at the top of the lineup
• Benedictine used three different pitchers
• Fast took the loss, working 3.2 innings
• Ashley Fisher logged .2 innings and Leah Navarro finished the game with 2.2 innings
