MADISON, WI - The Benedictine University softball team split a pair of contests in Wisconsin at Edgewood in NACC play.

THE DETAILS: GAME ONE
- Edgewood led for nearly all of the first contest, scoring first in the second innings
- A double steal by
Neena Franklin and
Asia Robinette allowed Benedictine to tie the game in the fourth
- Edgewood responded with five in the bottom of the inning and did not trail
- Benedictine scored in each of the final three but could not keep Edgewood off the board either
GAME ONE LEADERS
- Benedictine finished with 11 hits but also four errors
- Alexandra Loizon tossed 3.1 innings and suffered the loss, striking out four
- Leah Navarro finished out the contest
- Robinette,
Taylor Skraba,
Sara Allison and
Faith Chada all posted two hits
GAME TWO DETAILS
- Benedictine jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning to open a wild second game
- Alyssa Gill singled home a run and then scored on an error
- Edgewood scored three in the second and one in the fourth to lead 4-2
- Benedictine struck for six runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to lead 9-4
- Coleen Schmit hit a two-run homer, Skraba singled home two while Gill and
Megan Fast also knocked home runs in the fourth
- Ashley Fisher lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth
- Edgewood came back to tie the game with two in the sixth and three in the bottom of the seventh
- Five runs scored in the top of the eighth with the big blows coming on a two-run double from Fisher and a two-run single from
Lauren Gallagher
GAME TWO LEADERS
- Benedictine finished with 17 hits
- Skraba and Schmit finished with three hits each
- Gill, Allison, Chada and
Caroline Caesar posted two apiece
- Fast tossed 6.1 innings in a no-decision
- Gallagher worked 1.2 innings to earn the win
