LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University softball team finally had the chance to play at home and recorded a split with Marian in the conference openers for both teams.

GAME 1 DETAILS
• Marian played as the home team since the games were supposed to be played in Wisconsin and opened a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first
• Benedictine sliced into the deficit in the top of the third
• Faith Chada led off with a double and scored on a two-out single from
Alyssa Gill
• Marian came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-1 and held the edge the rest of the way
• Benedictine pulled within 4-2 in the sixth when
Ashley Fisher scored on an error but the tying runs were stranded in scoring position
• Megan Fast walked to open the seventh and pinch-runner
Skylar Pineda scored on a fielder's choice to bring Benedictine within 4-3
• The tying run was thrown out at the plate on a single from
Asia Robinette and the tying run was also left at third
STAT LEADERS: GM 1
• Benedictine finished with seven hits but left 10 on base including five in scoring position
• Alexandra Loizon tossed a complete game but suffered the loss
• Robinette and
Ashley Fisher both logged two hits in the contest
GAME 2 DETAILS
• Benedictine set the tone in the second game early, scoring a run in the first
• Fisher doubled and Fast followed with a single before a double steal brought home the first run
• Another run scored in the third when Fast homered
• The game broke open in the fourth behind four runs
• Robinette doubled home a run and Fisher knocked home two with a double before GIll capped the inning with an RBI single
• Marian scored in the sixth but Benedictine plated two in the seventh to put the game away
• Becky Roncone and Chada recorded RBI singles in the inning
STAT LEADERS: GM 2
• Benedictine blasted 14 hits in the second game including six for extra bases
• Fisher and Fast both posted three hits and Gill added two as the top of the lineup accounted for eight hits, three runs and four RBIs
• Robinette also added two hits
• Fast went the distance in the circle, striking out seven while allowing just one run
