Megan Fast was named as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Position Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Fast hit safely in every nine-of-10 contests during an 8-2 week for Benedictine, amassing 18 hits to total a .514 average with four homers and 15 RBIs. Fast posted four multi-hit games and capped the week by scoring four times while homering twice and tallying four hits in a 14-13 loss to Concordia Wisconsin.

Benedictine (26-12) will play whoever ends up seeded fifth at 2:00 pm on Thursday in the opening round of the NACC Tournament at Aurora.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Benedictine University's Megan Fast (Perry, Kan.) and Concordia University Wisconsin's Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.)  have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1, 2022. The honorees were selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

NACC Pitcher of the Week ~ Gina Followell, Concordia University Wisconsin
Followell, a senior, earned the victory in each of her four starts in the circle last week, posting a 4-1 record overall with 41 strikeouts in 26.0 innings. She opened the week by scattering three hits and striking out 13 in an 8-0, six-inning win over St. Norbert. Followell backed that performance up with seven strikeouts in a 2-1 complete-game win over Rockford, and struck out 10 in a five-inning win at Lakeland. She wrapped the week with nine strikeouts over seven innings in a 3-2 win over Benedictine to help the Falcons win the 2022 NACC title outright.

This is the fifth time this season - and the third week in a row - Followell has received a NACC weekly award.

NACC Position Player of the Week ~ Megan Fast, Benedictine University
Fast, a senior pitcher/infielder, totaled 18 hits over 10 games last week, batting .514 with four home runs, 15 RBIs, and 11 runs scored while notching three doubles, a walk, and a stolen base. She hit safely in nine of the 10 contests with five multiple-hit showings. Fast ended the week with four hits, four runs, two homers, a walk, and three RBIs in the final game against Concordia Wisconsin. Fast opened the week with five hits in eight at-bats in a doubleheader sweep at Alverno, clouting two home runs with eight RBIs.
