The Benedictine University women's basketball team suffered a 76-55 defeat in the home opener at the hands of visiting Elmhurst.
The first quarter was close throughout but Elmhurst went on a run late to lead by eight. Benedictine cut the deficit to two in the second quarter but a 12-0 run put Elmhurst in control. Benedictine shot 40 percent in the game but did not make a three-pointer in 13 attempts. Benedictine did finish +4 on the glass.
Ryann Ogarek tallied a double-double with 26 points to match a game high to go with 10 rebounds. Ogarek was the lone Benedictine player to reach double digits.
Cami Hurt dumped in seven off the bench.Â
Benedictine (0-2) travels to Wheaton on Tuesday night.
