Trailing 10-5 late in the first half the Benedictine University men's lacrosse team closed with a fury, notching three consecutive goals to pull within 10-8 but a scoreless third enabled visiting Illinois Wesleyan University to pull out a 19-10 win in the home opener.
James McDonald made 19 saves in net as Illinois Wesleyan peppered the goal with over 70 shots.
Will Robinson scored four goals for Benedictine and added an assist. Six others scored goals.
Jordan Chock finished with a goal and an assist.
