The Benedictine University softball team came away with a split of two tight contests in a doubleheader at St. Norbert winning 6-4 in the opener before falling 6-5 in the second game.
Benedictine scored in the first three innings of the opener to build a 5-0 lead.
Taylor Skraba hit a two-run homer in the second inning. Benedictine stole seven bases and posted 11 hits, three of which came from
Morgan Bruno. Skraba was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Alexandra Loizon struck out seven to earn the win in the circle, her ninth. St. Norbert scored three runs in the seventh to pull within 6-4 but could get no closer as
Bella Lodico finished out the win.
The second contest saw Benedictine score three runs in the first inning. St. Norbert notched two in the second and took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning. Benedictine plated two but left the tying run at third in the sixth. Bruno and
Ashley Fisher tallied two hits in the game as Benedictine logged 10.
Jasmine Lozano worked 4.2 innings and suffered the loss.
