The third time was the charm for the Benedictine University softball team. After twice having games postponed with North Central due to weather the teams were able to play on a cold Tuesday afternoon with Benedictine notching wins of 3-2 and 8-0 to cross the 20-win marker for the 15th consecutive season (Not counting Covid Year 2020).
Trailing 2-1 in the opener, Benedictine plated a pair of runs in the fifth to account for the difference.
Ashley Fisher tripled with one away and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Oppenhuis.
Alexandra Loizon went the distance in the circle, striking out three to grab the win. Fisher finished with two hits in the win, both for extra bases, adding a double.
Jasmine Lozano also tallied two hits in the victory.
North Central went through three pitchers in the first inning of the second contest as Benedictine sent 11 to the plate and scored five runs to set the tone. Oppenhuis singled home two as the fourth batter of the contest. Benedictine added a run in the second and two in fourth.
Morgan Bruno drove home two in the second contest. Benedictine finished with 12 hits. Lozano, Fisher, Bruno and
Madye Greenwood all posted two hits. Lozano allowed just two hits in a complete game.
