Playing a makeup doubleheader, the Benedictine University softball team dropped a pair of contests by the score of 8-2 and 7-6.

Morgan Bruno doubled home a run and later scored as Benedictine opened a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Lakeland tied the game in the bottom of the inning and went on to score six more unanswered runs to capture the opener.

Colleen Schmit and Bruno posted two hits apiece as Benedictine finished with nine.
The second game required eight innings to complete, the second consecutive conference doubleheader with an extra-inning affair.
Taylor Skraba, Benedictine's all-time leader in homers, put Benedictine ahead with a solo homer to start the game. Trailing 3-1, Benedictine scored four runs in the sixth to take the lead. Schmit logged a sacrifice fly, Bruno another RBI double and
Taylor Oppenhuis drilled a two-run homer. Lakeland tied the game in the seventh to send the contest to extras. An error allowed Benedictine to lead in the eighth but Lakeland scored twice in the bottom of the inning to notch the sweep. Lozano posted two hits while Skraba scored twice.
Benedictine (10-6, 2-2) is scheduled to face North Central in non-conference action at home on Wednesday afternoon.
