The Benedictine University baseball team opened play in the NACC Tournament by erupting for 17 runs to topple MSOE 17-7 in seven innings.

Logan Gregorio, the national rookie of the week, opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first. Benedictine extended the lead to 4-0 with three runs in the third on a
Brennan Fisher double and an RBI single from
Andrew Tenison. MSOE put five on the board in the top of the fourth to lead 5-4 but Benedictine responded with five of their own in the bottom of the frame to gain the lead for good.
Kevin Bushnell tied the game with an RBI single while four runs came across unearned. Tenison knocked home two with a single in the inning. Benedictine put the game away with six runs in the seventh to end the game. Gregorio homered in the frame.
Jackson Bahn worked five innings and struck out six to grab the win. Andrew Kurca tossed the final two frames. Benedictine posted 14 hits in the game led by Gregorio, who finished 4-for-4. Tenison notched three hits and Fisher drove home three in the win.
Benedictine (29-12) meets Aurora on Friday night at 7:00pm with the winner advancing to the championship on Saturday and the loser having to fight through the elimination bracket.
