The Benedictine University softball team jumped out early by fell to fourth-seeded Aurora 9-7 in the opener of the NACC Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

Ashley Fisher singled home two runs in the top of the first as Benedictine opened a 4-0 lead.
Taylor Oppenhuis and
Morgan Bruno added RBI singled in the frame. Aurora came back to open a 9-4 lead. Benedictine scored three unearned runs in the seventh but it was not enough to overcome the tournament hosts.
Neena Franklin singled home a run in the seventh and
Taylor Skraba lifted a sacrifice fly.
Benedictine put together 14 hits. Fisher notched three while Skraba,
Colleen Schmit, Oppenhuis, Bruno and Franklin logged two apiece.
Alexandra Loizon suffered the loss, working four innings.
Benedictine (26-15) plays MSOE on Friday morning at 10:35am in an elimination game.
