The Benedictine University men's basketball team pulled away from Concordia Wisconsin in the second half in a 69-59 home win on a night when
Trevor Montiel joined the 1,000-point club.
A tight first half saw neither side lead by more than four points as Benedictine led 34-30. A 10-0 run on almost all free throws enabled Benedictine to lead 55-44 just past the halfway point of the second. The lead continued to grow, reaching 68-51 when
Drew Stokes completed a rare four-point play with just under five minutes left. The contest featured five ties and eight lead changes, all in the first half.
Benedictine held a 44-33 advantage on the glass and recorded 20 second chance points. Benedictine shot 41 percent in the win and knocked down seven three-pointers.
Four players reached double figured led by 19 from
Tanner Resch. Montiel added 14 points with eight rebounds and reached the 1,000-point marker early in the second half. (

Nick Howard logged a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Stokes also hit double digits with 10 and tacked on seven boards.
