Trevor Montiel did it again. Montiel hit the game-winning shot with .5 seconds left to power the Benedictine University men's basketball team to a 76-75 victory over visiting Dominican on Saturday.

Montiel, who has made several clutch shots in his decorated career and just became a member of the 1,000-point club, also hit the game winner with just over three seconds left at home against Marian on December 9. Benedictine trailed 75-71 with 1:08 to play in the game before Montiel scored the final five points. The game-winner came following a timeout after Benedictine missed consecutive shots and snared a pair of offensive rebounds. The tight contest saw 12 ties and 15 lead changes, Benedictine held an eight-point lead late in the first half and shot over 50 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
For the game, Benedictine shot 43.1 percent and held a slim 35-34 advantage on the glass. Benedictine amassed 44 points in the paint, 17 second chance points and 10 fast break points. The bench accounted for 19 points in the game.
Montiel led Benedictine with 22 points and added six rebounds.
Drew Stokes was equally effective in helping power the comeback win. Stokes logged a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Cullen Cosme came off the bench to finish with 10.
Benedictine (8-7, 5-3 NACC) travels to Rockford on Wednesday night.
