Another second half rally sent the Benedictine University men's basketball team to a fifth consecutive victory, logging an 81-74 victory at Marian on Wednesday night.
A tight game throughout, neither team was able to lead by more than seven points in the entire contest. The game featured 13 ties and 23 lead changes. Benedictine trailed 41-36 at the half but outscored Marian 45-33 in the second to rally for the win. Trailing 70-67 with 6:04 left, Benedictine embarked on a 9-0 run led by seven straight from
Tanner Resch to take the lead.
Benedictine posted their best shooting performance of the season, scalding the nets at 59.1 percent. The team shot 63.6 percent in the second half. The contest featured a combined 55 free throws. Benedictine was 21-of-28 at the stripe. Benedictine also made eight three-pointers.
Resch led Benedictine with 24 points, 11 of which came at the line.
Nick Howard finished with 18 while
Trevor Montiel logged 13 and
Brandon McCoy 10.
Benedictine (11-7, 8-3 NACC) hosts Lakeland on Saturday. The team will celebrate senior day.
