The Benedictine University women's basketball team collected a key victory at home, pulling away from visiting Marian late in a close game for a 76-71 decision.
Trailing for most of the game, Marian was able to build a six-point advantage late in the fourth quarter. Benedictine countered with a 14-0 run to grab the decision.
Five players reached double figures for Benedictine in the balanced effort.
Autumn Rucker,
Sophia Hardy and
Megan Duzansky all tallied 12.
Makenzie Carroll logged 11 with
Sierra Skack tallying 10.
The contest featured four ties and 13 lead changes. Benedictine made 11 three-pointers to aid the cause. Benedictine shot 37 percent in the contest and held a 46-37 advantage on the glass.The team posted 30 points in the paint, 14 on the fast break, 12 on second chance opportunities and 16 off turnovers.
Benedictine (6-12, 6-3 NACC) will welcome Lakeland on Saturday afternoon.
