The Benedictine University women's basketball team led nearly wire-to-wire in scoring a 66-53 win over visiting Lakeland on Saturday.
Benedictine scored the first five points of the game on a
Jordan Carlquist basket and a three-pointer from
Sierra Skack. Lakeland led briefly with 5:59 remaining in the first but Benedictine embarked on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good. Carlquist extended the lead to double figures midway through the second as part of a 10-0 run and Benedictine did not look back.
Another balanced effort led to the victory. Skack was the lone player to reach double figure with 11.
Sophia Hardy,
Autumn Rucker and
Olympia Kokkines all notched nine.
Benedictine connected on 11 three-pointers and shot 32.4 percent for the game while holding a 45-37 advantage on the glass. The team cashed in 17 points off turnovers and the bench contributed 33 points to the total.
Benedictine (7-12, 7-3 NACC) travels to MSOE on Wednesday night.
