The Benedictine University women's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit in the first quarter but dropped a tight contest at MSOE, falling 62-59.
Trailing 15-4 midway through the opening quarter, Benedictine rallied to lead 36-31 at the half. The lead reached seven points in the third and Benedictine held a 59-53 advantage with just under four minutes to play but MSOE scored the final nine points of the game to grab the win. MSOE shot 53 percent in the fourth quarter to help the rally.
For the contest, Benedictine shot 37.9 percent. The team also scored 24 points in the paint and 25 off turnovers.
Sophia Hardy led the way with 18 points, a career high.
Autumn Rucker logged 14 off the bench as four players hit double digits.
Megan Duzansky and
Jordan Carlquist both pitched in 10. Duzansky recorded five steals.
Makenzie Carroll finished with nine rebounds.
Benedictine (7-13, 7-4 NACC) heads to Illinois Tech on Saturday.
