The 16th-ranked Benedictine University men's volleyball team posted a sweep of visiting Illinois Wesleyan University on Monday night, handing the visitors their first defeat of the year.
Each of the three contests to open the year has been a sweep. Benedictine needed to rally from behind in the first and third sets to grab the win. The third set saw Illinois Wesleyan in front 19-15 but Benedictine rattled off the next six points to take the lead, finishing off the contest on a kill from
Eoin O'Toole.
Chase Olson paced Benedictine with 10 kills in a balanced effort.
Brayden Rice tacked on nine. Olson posted four blocks at the net with
Spencer VanEngen blocking three. VanEngen tallied 22 assists in the win.
Chris Radomski led the defense with seven digs.
Benedictine (2-1) heads to Ohio for three matches this weekend.
