Following a 5-5 season, the Benedictine University football team saw 11 individuals receive all-conference recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Abdulah Nyang was named as a first team selection on the offensive line.
Brian Pritt and
Tyler Walker, often schemed against, both received first team honors on the defensive side. Walker finished with 72 tackles, seventh in the conference. Walker was a second team selection in 2022 and a first team choice in 2021. The senior posted a season high 14 tackles against St. Norbert and recorded a stop in every game. Pritt, a preseason All-American, recorded a team best 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks and was a first team choice last year.
Five players earned second team honors. Dino Stephens was a second team choice at running back. Four players on the defensive side also picked up second team nods with
Jack Hayden on the defensive line,
Jake Diamantos and
Gessie Escudero from the linebacker slot and
Joshua Coats at defensive back. Stephens led Benedictine with 679 yards rushing and six touchdowns. The 679 yards were fourth in the conference. Diamantos led the team with 77 stops, fifth in the conference. Escudero was third on the team in tackles with 70 and ranked second with 8.5 tackles for loss. Coats led the secondary with two interceptions and seven pass breakups.
Jose Barragan,
John Fennell and
Alexander Corbett were named honorable mention all-conference. Fennell was the starter at center, Barragan record 1.5 sacks among 37 tackles from the defensive line and Corbett was a two-way threat that returned a punt for a touchdown in the season finale in addition to leading the team with 47 catches.
