Box Score The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team hit the road for the first time this season and dropped a 24-8 decision at regional power Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
Illinois Wesleyan did not trail in the game, scoring the first six goals.
Will Robinson tallied the first Benedictine goal with 4:33 left in the opening quarter but Benedictine found themselves down 8-1. Benedictine scored three times in the second but faced a 17-4 deficit at the half. Illinois Wesleyan had 13 man-up chances in the game.
Benedictine posted 39 shots, 24 on goal. Benedictine picked up 34 groundballs and won 13 faceoffs while causing 18 turnovers.
Robinson scored three goalson 14 shots.
Robert Schroeder scored twice.
Ben Zimmerman dished a pair of assists.
Jonathan Zimmerman and
Lance Kopecky both won five faceoffs. Schroeder caused four turnovers.
Ben Tankel and
Luis Hernandez both picked up four groundballs.
James McDonald recorded 14 saves in goal.
Benedictine (0-2) hosts Kalamazoo on Saturday.
