The Benedictine University softball team opened the season with a split of games in Florida.
GAME ONE: EASTERN 2, BENEDICTINE 1
Eastern was on the final day of their trip and needed to catch a flight so the game was played on a time limit and finished after six innings.
All the offense came in the first inning. Eastern scored twice in the top of the frame and Benedictine logged their lone run on an RBI single from
Victoria Duszynski with two outs in the bottom of the inning to knock home
Morgan Bruno.
Bella Lodico threw six innings and allowed just the two runs on five hits. The offense finished with five hits with Duszynski tallying two.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 11, DUBUQUE 2
Benedictine set the tone by scoring four times in the top of the first. The team scored two in the third to lead 6-0 and ended any chance of a comeback with five runs in the seventh.
Bruno tallied three hits, scored three times and added three RBIs from the leadoff spot.
Sam Davidowski added three hits with a pair of RBIs.
Mia Giammarese notched three hits and tossed five innings in the circle to grab the win.
Benedictine (1-1) will continue the journey with two more games on Saturday.
