The Benedictine University men's volleyball team saw a seven-game win streak come to an end with a home sweep at the hands of Aurora, who handed Benedictine their first conference loss of the year to halt an 11-match win streak against conference opponents.
The intensity of Tuesday's contest at Dominican carried over early. Benedictine built a big lead in the first set but Aurora responded and was able to hold off a late surge. The visitors were then able to control the second and third to log the win. Aurora hit .350 in the win.
Benedictine hit .184 in the match.
Brayden Rice led the way with 12 kills.
Chase Olson added nine.
Spencer VanEngen dished 20 assists.
Jordan Cardenas led the defense with seven digs.
The match was the only contest in the conference on Thursday and pulls Benedictine even with four other teams at one loss in NACC play.
Benedictine (11-7, 6-1) will have another test on Saturday with a match on the road at Marian.
