The 12th ranked Benedictine University baseball team couldn't get the bats going in game one but erupted in the second contest to split a conference double at Concordia Wisconsin.
GAME ONE: CUW 4, BENEDICTINE 2
Concordia Wisconsin scored in the first inning and built a 3-0 lead in the opener, keeping Benedictine at bay.
Ryan Doubek and
Logan Gregorio posted consecutive RBI singles in the fifth to bring Benedictine within 3-2 but Concordia Wisconsin scored in the bottom of the frame to gain a valuable insurance run.
JT Adams worked a complete game but suffered the loss.
Anthony Lenza posted two hits from the ninth slot as Benedictine managed just five in the defeat.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 10, CUW 0 - SEVEN INNINGS
Benedictine put game one behind them by scoring in the first five innings on the way to a rout.
Kevin Bushnell had a huge game, driving home five. Bushnell lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the first to open the scoring and added a two-run homer in the third. Benedictine totaled 10 hits in the win. Gregorio finished with three hits with Bushnell and
David Rubin tallying two apiece.
Jackson Bahn returned for his first outing of the year, starting the game and working an inning.
Conner Kendall picked up the win, his second of the week, by throwing five scoreless, allowing just three hits.
Doubek extended his on-base streak to 52 by reaching in both games and Gregorio pushed his to 47.
Benedictine (16-2, 3-1 NACC) hosts Concordia Chicago on Tuesday.
