The Benedictine University baseball team posted a shutout in game two to salvage a split of two games with St. Norbert on Saturday.
ST. NORBERT 7, BENEDICTINE 3 - GM 1
St. Norbert jumped ahead with a three-run homer in the first inning, forcing Benedictine to play catch up early. Benedictine battled back to tie the game before another three-run homer was part of a four-run eighth as St. Norbert grabbed the win in extra innings.
Kevin Bushnell drove home a run with a double in the bottom of the first and
DeShawnte Carraway added an RBI single.
David Rubin tied the game with an RBI single in the fifth.
Both teams totaled 10 hits.
Ryan Doubek notched three out of the leadoff spot and
Brennan Fisher added a pair.
Andrew Kurcz overcame the rough first inning to work 5.2 innings, walking four and striking out six.
Austin Pizer threw the final 1.2 and took the loss.

All three runs for Benedictine came in the bottom of the third as the top two hitters in the order delivered. Doubek drove home a run with a single and
Logan Gregorio followed with a two-run double.
JT Adams tossed 4.1 shutout innings to nab the victory while
Dan Dombrowski closed out the shutout, the third of the year for Benedictine. Doubek tallied three more hits out of the leadoff slot with
George Betevis collecting a pair as Benedictine finished with eight hits.
Doubek extended his on-base streak to 54, tied for 10th longest in NCAA Division III history. Gregorio is right behind, pushing his streak to 49, 14th all-time.
Benedictine (17-3, 6-2 NACC) is scheduled to be at home again on Sunday for a makeup with Concordia Chicago.
