The Benedictine University softball team dropped a pair of contests at Lakeland on Saturday.
GAME ONE: LAKELAND 4, BENEDICTINE 0
Lakeland scored three runs in the second and limited Benedictine to just four hits in the opener.
Taylor Oppenhuis was 2-for-3 at the plate while
Bella Lodico took the loss.
Morgan Magnabosco tossed three scoreless and allowed just one hit.
GAME TWO: LAKELAND 14, BENEDICTINE 6 - FIVE INNINGS
Mia Giammarese put Benedictine ahead with an RBI single in the top of the first, but Lakeland used a pair of big innings to grab the sweep, scoring six in the third to break open a 2-2 game and adding five in the fourth. Benedictine scored four times in the fifth but Lakeland added a run to end the contest.
Benedictine committed seven errors in the loss. Magnabosco suffered the defeat. Giammarese was 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Morgan Burno notched two hits and scored three times out of the leadoff slot.
Benedictine (8-6, 1-3 NACC) hosts Mount Mary in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday.
