The Benedictine University softball team splits a pair of contests with visiting MSOE on Saturday, taking the opener 5-1 before dropping game two 6-4.
Haley Barnes hit two-run homers in both ends of the double. Benedictine jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning of the opener and did not trail while MSOE erased an early deficit to build a 6-2 lead in the second contest before holding on.
Barnes drove home three in the opener and five on the day.
Taylor Oppenhuis scored three times in the first contest.
Morgan Magnabosco earned the win in relief in the opener while
Bella Lodico started the game but also earned the save.
Lauren Gallagher tossed five shutout innings in relief in the second contest.
Benedictine (9-7, 2-4 NACC) heads to Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday.
