The Benedictine University softball team continued a busy week by tallying a road conference sweep over Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 10, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 3
Haley Barnes stayed hot with a homer in the top of the first in the cool and damp conditions to give Benedictine the lead.
Lauryn Olson added an RBI double in the second and Benedictine tacked on three in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 6-0.
Bella Lodico did not allow an earned run, striking out five in the win. Benedictine finished with 11 hits.
Sam Davidowski drove home four runs.
Taylor Oppenhuis was 3-for-3 while Barnes,
Victoria Duszynski and Davidowski tallied two apiece.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 9, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 7 - EIGHT INNINGS
The second contest was a back-and-forth affair with Benedictine scoring four times in the sixth to take the lead when trailing 5-3. Wisconsin Lutheran was able to tie the game and send it into extras before a double from Barnes put Benedictine ahead.
Benedictine smacked 17 hits. Barnes put Benedictine in front again in the first with an RBI single and totaled four hits while driving home three and scoring three times. Duszynski and Davidowski both collected three hits with a pair of RBIs. Four pitchers appeared in the contest with Lodico grabbing her second win of the day behind 2.1 hitless innings.
Benedictine (11-9, 4-6 NACC) visits St. Norbert on Saturday.
