The Benedictine University softball team scored 12 runs in each contest, sweeping St. Norbert in a conference doubleheader on the road.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 12, ST. NORBERT 2
Benedictine scored three runs in the first and four in the second to build an early insurmountable lead.
Benedictine slugged 16 hits in the game with
Morgan Bruno notching four from the leadoff slot along with three RBIs and
Victoria Duszynski adding three hits and three RBIs from the cleanup slot. Ten different players tallied a hit in the win.
Bella Lodico went the distance in the five-inning contest, striking out five to earn her eighth win of the year.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 12, ST. NORBERT 6
St. Norbert led 1-0 early and kept pace with Benedictine before six runs late put the game away.
With the game even at 1-1 in the second, Bruno put Benedictine ahead with a two-run single. Benedictine was leading 6-4 before scoring three in the fifth and three in the seventh. The team totaled 19 hits in the second game.
Duszynski collected four hits in the finale. Bruno and
Mia Giammarese finished with three hits along with
Breanna Deutscher. Giammarese earned the win in the circle, working four innings.
Lauren Gallagher tossed the final three for a save.
Benedictine (13-9, 6-6 NACC) visits North Park on Tuesday.
