The eight-ranked Benedictine University baseball team was swept for the first time this season, dropping a pair of games at MSOE.
GAME ONE: MSOE 3, BENEDICTINE 2
The opener was a pitcher's duel throughout. Benedictine led 1-0 in the first on an RBI single from
Kevin Bushnell but MSOE tied the game in the second and scored twice in the fourth to lead 3-1.
Ryan Doubek recorded an RBI single in the fifth but Benedictine could pull no closer.
All five of Benedictine's hits were singles with Bushnell picking up a pair.
Andrew Kurcz was the tough luck loser, working a complete game.
GAME TWO: MSOE 15, BENEDICTINE 5
Bushnell gave Benedictine their lone lead in the top of the first, driving home a run with a groundout, but MSOE scored seven in the bottom of the inning and added six in the fourth as Benedictine was attempting to rally.
Doubek was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI out of the leadoff slot, extending his on-base streak to 60. Bushnell and
DeShawnte Carraway both tallied two hits. Four different pitchers appeared in the game.
