The Benedictine University softball team needed extra innings in game two but tallied a home sweep of Edgewood.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 6, EDGEWOOD 2
Mia Giammarese doubled home two runs in the third to give Benedictine the lead and four more came across in the fourth as Benedictine led 6-0.
Haley Barnes hit another homer, a two-run blast, while finishing with two hits. Giammarese also picked up a pair of hits as Benedictine totaled eight.
Bella Lodico earned the win in the circle, striking out 11.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 3, EDGEWOOD 2 - EIGHT INNINGS
Morgan Bruno recorded the game-winning hit, a single, with two outs in the eighth to give Benedictine the sweep. Benedictine came from behind twice, trailing 1-0 and 2-1.
Victoria Duszynski tied the game with out outs in the bottom of the seventh, logging an RBI single. Bruno finished with three hits. Giammarese earned the win, allowing just one earned run in eight innings while fanning six.
Benedictine (16-10, 8-6 NACC) visits Concordia Chicago on Sunday.
