The Benedictine University baseball team suffered an 11-6 defeat at the hands of visiting North Central in non-conference play at home on Wednesday night.
Benedictine did not lead in the game. North Central struck first in the top of the second with a single run after Benedictine stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the first. Benedictine was able to tie the game on a two-out double from
DeShawnte Carraway in the bottom of the fourth but the visitors responded with five in the fifth and did not look back, putting the game away with four in the seventh.
Five different pitchers appeared in the game, combining to strike out 12 batters. Benedictine finished with 10 hits in the contest.
George Betevis and
Anthony Lenza both notched a pair.
Kevin Bushnell hit an opposite field homer in the seventh, but Benedictine stranded 10 on the bases.
Ryan Doubek walked twice to push his on-base streak to 65 games.
Benedictine (24-7) heads to Edgewood on Saturday for a huge conference doubleheader.
