The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team made5 a valiant late comeback attempt but could not overcome an early deficit in dropping a 19-14 decision at Concordia Wisconsin.
Ben Zimmerman tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 10:11 mark of the first quarter, but Concordia Wisconsin rattled off 10 straight to lead 11-1 and carried a 12-4 lead into the half. Benedictine scored seven fourth quarter goals and pulled within four but could not complete the comeback.
Zimmerman scored five goals and added an assist.
Dylan Langley scored three times while distributing two assists.
Jonathan Zimmerman picked up nine groundballs.
Colin Doyle stopped 22 shots in goal.
Benedictine (5-10, 4-3 NACC) has wrapped up the fourth seed in the conference tournament and will conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Beloit on Senior Day.
