The Benedictine University softball team secured their 20th win of the season as part of a doubleheader sweep of Marian on the road Saturday.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 4, MARIAN 3
Runs in the fifth and sixth enabled Benedictine to rally from down 3-2 and win the opener, nabbing the 20th win of the year.
Mia Giammarese singled home the tying run while
Haley Barnes drove home the game-winner by reaching on an error. Both also drove home runs earlier in the contest.
Bella Lodico struck out 12 in a complete game to earn the win. Benedictine finished with 11 hits. Barnes,
Morgan Bruno,
Lauryn Olson and
Victoria Duszynski all tallied two.
GAME TWO: MARIAN 5, BENEDICTINE 1
Benedictine trailed 1-0 early but broke open a 1-1 game behind four runs in the top of the seventh.
Barnes and Duszynski both plated two in the decisive inning. Duszynski finished with three hits to pace the offense, including the two-run double in the seventh. Giammarese worked six innings to earn her seventh win.
Benedictine (21-11, 11-7 NACC) is slated to host Alverno on Sunday. The start time has been moved back to 2pm.
