It is with great pleasure that Benedictine University welcomes Josh Berey-Wingate to the position of men's lacrosse head coach.

Berey-Wingate has been a part of winning programs at every stop of his coaching career. The University of Dubuque graduate spent the last three years as an assistant at Lewis University, an NCAA Division II program. Berey-Wingate helped grow the size of the program and guide the team to their first ever conference title. Lewis was ranked as high as 11th in the nation this year and reached the final eight of the NCAA Division II Tournament. Berey-Wingate specifically worked with the offense and faceoffs as well as serving as the recruiting coordinator. Lewis increased their win total every year to reach the heights of the 2024 campaign.

"I am honored to be the next head men's lacrosse coach at Benedictine University," said Berey-Wingate. "Thank you to our athletic director Paul Nelson and administration for the opportunity. Thanks as well to my fellow coaches that have helped me grow. I am excited to get to work!"

Berey-Wingate is familiar with Benedictine after serving as an assistant, working with the defense, for the team that won the first conference title in program history at Benedictine in 2021 and set a program record for wins. Berey-Wingate helped to recruit some current members of the program.

Berey-Wingate began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Dubuque, assisting the team from his graduation until joining Benedictine. Berey-Wingate was a four-year starter and three-year captain at Dubuque. In addition to collegiate experience, Berey-Wingate serves as the AAA Director for True Illinois Lacrosse and state team manager.

Berey-Wingate, who begins his tenure at Benedictine at the end of June, inherits a team that has reached the NACC Tournament in each of the last four seasons. The 2025 season will begin in February.
