Stevens Welcomed to Men's Volleyball Post

7/25/2024 11:11:00 AM

It is with great pleasure that Benedictine University announces the appointment of Mike Stevens to the position of head men's volleyball coach.

"I want to thank Paul Nelson, the hiring committee, and the team for entrusting me with the opportunity to lead the Men's Volleyball Program into the future," Stevens stated. "The Benedictine program is one of the most storied and successful programs in Division III Men's Volleyball, and one I have had immense respect for since its inception in 2014. I could not be more excited for the opportunity to lead this team in its next chapter and will continue to build upon the successes of the Alumni and former coaches of this program. Hail BenU!"

Stevens arrives at Benedictine after spending three years as an assistant coach at Carthage College, most recently as the top assistant coach. Carthage won the national championship in 2022 and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2023. The Firebirds are one of the top programs in the region and the nation, consistently earning national rankings. Carthage posted a record of 60-17 in the three years with Stevens on staff and saw nine players earn AVCA All-American honors along with nine players receiving all-region status. Stevens worked primarily with the setters and offense helping to navigate in-game adjustments and train the offensive system.

Stevens also works as a Director, Recruiting Coordinator, and Master Coach for Southport Volleyball Club, a nationally ranked club out of the Southeast Wisconsin area. He started his coaching career with the club back in 2015, and in 2021 was named Director of the organization by Southport's board of directors.

Since 2018, he has also worked as a High-Performance Coach for the Badger Region, the USA Volleyball Regional Volleyball Association for the state of Wisconsin. During his time with the High-Performance Program, he has helped train many of the top recruits in the Badger Region, and his run is highlighted by helping lead the U19 Team to a Gold Medal in the 2022 All-Star Championships in Tulsa, OK.

Stevens is a 2019 graduate of UW-Parkside with a degree in Marketing and a Certificate in Sales and has begun his tenure at Benedictine.
