Women's Hoops Eases Past Dominican

The Benedictine University women's basketball team logged a season sweep of Dominican by recording a 50-41 win at home on Wednesday night in a game where both teams struggled from the floor.

Benedictine scored the first four points of the game and barely trailed but could never separate from the visitors. The largest lead of the first half was five points and Dominican held a brief edge in the second. Megan Duzansky put Benedictine ahead by five at 24-19 early in the third before Dominican countered with six straight to open a one-point advantage. The lead see-sawed for the next couple minutes before Dominican took a 35-32 lead into the fourth. Hailey Bachmann and Allison Jarvis both notched baskets to open the fourth and put Benedictine back in front. Megan Duzansky recorded a second chance basket with just under seven minutes left to put Benedictine ahead for good. Dominican managed just six points in the fourth.

Benedictine totaled 44 points in the paint in a game that saw four ties and eight lead changes. Benedictine did not make a three and finished the game shooting 39 percent overall while holding the visitors to just 19 percent. Benedictine also finished +14 on the glass. Jarvis led all scorers with 14 points while Makenzie Carroll pitched in 11. Duzansky logged eight points to go with 10 boards. Bachmann posted four blocks to go along with a game best 12 rebounds.

Benedictine (7-7, 3-2 NACC) welcomes Marian on Saturday afternoon.
